Zearing, Iowa - A great place to call home!

Mayor's Welcome Message

City of Zearing

Dear Online Visitor:

Welcome to Zearing - "A great place to call home! Zearing was founded on October 17, 1881, named after Judge William Mitchell Zearing. Mr. Zearing donated a bell to the community. Zearing is in a great location, we are thirty minutes from Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, and Ames. We have a great school system, Colo-NESCO, the middle school is located in Zearing. We have a busy Main Street, plus many other businesses in other sections of the city. Colonial Manor Nursing Home is our largest employer. Our population is 617. We have four churches, a community center, public library, volunteer fire department and first responders, a medical clinic, senior citizen housing, and friendly neighborhoods — a great place to raise a family in or to retire in. Please come check out our wonderful city!

Sincerely,

Lucille Reed, Mayor
